In its 2024 recommendations for AI engagement at Notre Dame, the Generative AI Task Force emphasized the need for a campus-wide AI tool that maintains the security and privacy of University data. Today University faculty & staff have access to two Google AI products: Google Gemini, a highly capable AI chatbot, and NotebookLM, a tool for working with documents. When accessed via your Notre Dame account, both services offer the same data protections as Google Drive. Unlike many AI tools in use today, with Gemini and NotebookLM, your data is not resold or used to train future AI models.
