This practical workshop introduces faculty and others interested in using generative AI to enhance the instructional design process. Participants will learn how AI tools, such as Gemini, can streamline core design tasks while also improving alignment with desired learning outcomes. We will explore how AI can support essential components of course design, including outlining, drafting learning objectives aligned with Bloom’s Taxonomy, creating assessment rubrics, and generating interactive learning materials. The workshop also highlights how AI can accelerate the creation and adaptation of Open Educational Resources (OER), ensuring materials remain engaging, accessible, properly licensed, and accurately attributed. Participants will gain hands-on experience with effective prompting techniques that support pedagogical rigor, ethical use, and instructional quality throughout the course development lifecycle.
