The rise of generative AI has sparked significant discussion among faculty regarding its impact on assessments. Should we adapt our assignments to work with these new tools, focus on designing assessments that move beyond them, or somewhere in between? We will begin this workshop by introducing a framework for assessment–AI-resilient, AI-agnostic, and AI-resistant–and then have a few faculty from across the university share how their assignments have evolved in the age of AI. The session will continue with time for participants to share and revise one of their own assignments and hear about opportunities to continue this conversation with their peers and ND Learning. We will conclude by gathering ideas about how we can continue to develop assessments that promote critical thinking, creativity, and essential skills in Notre Dame students. Whether you are interested in integrating AI-enabled tasks, focusing on AI-resistant assignment design, or simply seeking a space to share your concerns and questions about assessment integrity, please join this interactive session to collaborate on this evolving pedagogical challenge.
